Writer Wednesday Welcomes Frankie Blooding

Happy Halloween and Also Happy Writer Wednesday.  It seems fitting to be hosting a guest with the last name Blooding on this holiday.  Today we welcome Frankie Blooding to the blog.  1. If you could start by telling us a little bit about yourself. I’m a little nerdy. I have an alien solar system literally hanging from the ceiling of my apartment. I have a bird, Jack, and a pet rock, Rockie. I also have a super obsession with yarn. It’s threatening to take over. I’m very crafty and love to create things…all kinds of things! 2.  What is your current project? My current project is book 2 of the Hands of Tarot series, The Knight of Wands. Right now, we’re trying to find a peace between the families and the Hands. 3.  Where do you get the ideas for writing? Inspiration? OMW! I get inspiration through LIFE! Usually. With this series, however, the inspiration came when I epic-ally failed with another series and I ended up killing all of my characters. Oh man! I cried for days! Then I said to myself, “Self, sweetie, you need to write something completely different.” So I went into my brain, digged deep and found a solar […]

We welcome Monica Enderle Pierce to Writer Wednesday

Today we welcome Monica Enderle Pierce! I met Monica back when I started stalking Twitter and other fledgling writers. We used to participate in #wipfire. We would show up on Twitter every night and post lines of our current WIP (work in progress) on Twitter, and then critique them. I learned a LOT from Monica back then and I was always in awe of her beautiful, literary lines. Thanks for stopping by, Monica. What is your current project? Well, I just released my first novel, Girl Under Glass (a dystopian/sci-fi romance), so now I’m bouncing between its sequel — The Glass Asylum — and First Comes Famine, a gothic urban fantasy. (Can you tell I like to bend genres?) Do you have a “day job” as well as writing? I do, indeed. I work for a web development shop and my official title is Troublemaker. (I help with CMS development, as well as design tests for our code devs.) I confess I’m a bit envious of your web development expertise. With everything going on, what are some of your hobbies? Bwah-ha-ha-ha! Oh, that’s funny! I, uh, wait, you’re serious? Um, writing is what I do when I’m not working or taking care […]

REDEMPTION Release Day is Here!

REDEMPTION is live on Amazon but the search engine on the site isn’t picking it up. To buy a copy of REDEMPTION for Kindle go here. It’s finally here! The day I didn’t anticipate when I wrote the first words to CHOSEN on a cold December day. THE CHOSEN series has come to an end. It’s bittersweet. I love Emma, Will, and Jake and when I did a final full read through of REDEMPTION last week, I was melancholy, listening to the playlist for SACRIFICE like I’d just gone through a breakup. But I’m ready to leave my beloved characters behind for awhile. I might pick up the series again at some point, but not in the foreseeable future. I think my characters and I need a little break. Instead, I have some other projects in the works. I’m writing THERE, the conclusion to the On the Otherside series. I’ll also be writing THIRTY AND A HALF EXCUSES, the third book in the Rose Gardner Mysteries series. But I’m really excited about my new urban fantasy series, THE CURSE KEEPERS, which I’ll release in 2013. If you read REDEMPTION, could you do me a favor and write a review? Reviews […]

Chapter One of REDEMPTION

Chapter One   Smoke clung to her nostrils, now an ever-burning constant. Downtown Albuquerque smoldered in the valley below her, but Emma’s more immediate concern was above. Marcus stood on the cliff, the element Water in human form. Emma knew the destruction he was capable of causing, but she’d been searching for him, hoping he would be her savior. Instead, he’d just declared himself to be her worst nightmare. “What the hell?” Will growled, trying to shield her with his body, a difficult task given that they sat on a tree growing from the rock wall. “You told me to save her. Now you’re threatening her?” Marcus leaned over the edge, opening his mouth as though to speak, but abruptly turned and ran out of view. “We have to get out of here.” Will rose to a crouch while he craned his neck to see above. “No kidding,” Emma muttered, searching for an escape as well. The tree trunk they straddled was ten feet down the side of a cliff. The car she had been in lay fifty feet below in the bottom of a ravine. “Shit.” Will growled. Emma could only imagine the lengths Will would go to protect […]

Redemption/Chosen Series Box Set Giveaway

I have a book coming out next Wednesday and I am SO EXCITED! Some of you are anxiously awaiting the release of REDEMPTION, the fourth and final book in The Chosen series. But a lot of people have never heard of CHOSEN, and I want to introduce those readers to the series. So I bundled the first three books of The Chosen series together and created an eBook boxed set. The bundle contains the first three books, CHOSEN, HUNTED, and SACRIFICE, and it’s now available at:   Amazon Barnes & Noble and Kobo The box set is currently on sale for $2.99 instead of it’s normal $9.99. Individually, they would cost $10.97, so either way it’s still a bargain. But October 15 will be the last day of the $2.99 sale so I want to get the word out. And on top of that–CHOSEN is currently FREE on Amazon, Kobo, Apple, Sony and Diesel. (It’s on sale for $0.99 on Barnes & Noble.) Did I mention that I want to get the word out? That’s where you come in. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to promote books.  So my giveaway for  Friday’s ARC for REDEMPTION involves […]

Writer Wednesday Welcomes Jill Cooper

Jill started writing when she was in elementary school and given a creative writing assignment. Once that started there was no looking back. When other kids were out buying makeup and dresses, Jill was saving up for her first word processor WITH a hard drive. She lives in Massachusetts with one dramatic toddler, a wood working husband, and 2 fluffy white cats. She is the author of the YA Series The Dream Slayer. The second in the series is out on October 12th. What was the inspiration for the Dream Slayer series: I really wanted to write a paranormal novel with a teen girl at the heart that wasn’t pretty, popular, or self-confident, no super flowing beautiful hair moments! I drew from my own personal experiences of being bullied or teased for my weight and glasses in school and built the story from there. I wanted to show strength in a normal, almost mundane girl. I want Natalie to be an inspiration to girls that isn’t A Kardashian or Britney Spears, or  (wait for it) Bella. That even a normal girl who isn’t perfectly skinny, or have the best home life can be a hero. Real heroes are born […]
October 2, 2012

I’ve lost track of the days in this giveaway. Math just isn’t my thing. Throw in trying to write the first draft for THERE, my daughter’s OUTSTANDING performance in her high school play this weekend, my website hack that took a very INTENSIVE clean up– and lost last Friday’s post for that day’s giveaway of REDEMPTION–(I picked from the comments that were mailed to me– Congrats to Natalie Cleary!), getting ready for my parent’s FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY this coming weekend, sick kids, and I just got my copy edit notes. Oh and did I mention that I have a book coming out next week? Where was I? Oh yeah. I’ve lost track of what day of the giveaway this is. That’s okay. We don’t need to know the number to GIVE AWAY A COPY! To have a chance at winning an eBook ARC copy of REDMEMPTION: 1) Make sure that you are a newsletter subscriber. The place to sign up is over there. –> 2) Leave a comment and answer this question: Have  read either of my other series besides The Chosen series?  If so, which ones?  Not to worry! It’s not a requirement to have read my other series! […]

We welcome Branli Caidryn to Writer Wednesday

**Today and tomorrow Phoenix Splinter will be FREE on Amazon!!!** Today I welcome  Branli Caidryn as my Writer Wednesday guest. I have no picture of Branli because he has a strict “no photo” policy. He’s recently moved to Seattle and invited me to do Irish Car bombs with him, so my evil plan is to get him drunk and have my way with him. By taking his picture. What did you think I meant? In spite of Branli’s VERY RECENT move, he still had time for our interview.  Branli, is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult? The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay. The book is about Peekay and his adventures growing up; love, loss, perseverance. He’s orphaned early on, by a mother that’s mentally unstable. He’s picked on at the orphanage. His favorite pet is killed by bullies. And the one person he’s ever looked up to, leaves him. I was able to relate to this character and his many losses growing up. To this day I can’t bring myself to reading it again, the heartache was just too much the first time. Oh, my. Now […]
